PE and Sport Premium at Havannah First School

What is the Sport Premium?

Since 2013 the Government has provided funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to primary school headteachers. It is 'ring-fenced' which means that it can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

What do we already do?

We are delighted to be able to invest in sport at Havannah First School,  we believe that participation in sport can change the lives of children, giving them great opportunities to be fit, happy and well, both now and in the future. We have always ensured that children have two hours of quality PE teaching every week and we are committed to ensuring that children get their 30 active minutes a day. We  provide many extra opportunities for groups and individuals on top of our planned curriculum and we engage with the School Games, so that our children have the experience of competitive sport. In the document below you can read about how we use the Sport Premium and how it benefits our pupils at Havannah First School.

SCHOOL GAMES  AWARD

After 4 Years of consecutive Gold Awards, we were due to be awarded the Platinum award in 2020, unfortunately Covid  had other ideas. We were delighted to have been awarded silver in 2021/22 following a break in the sporting clubs we were able to offer. We hit Gold again in 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25.
