School Council

At Havannah First School, we have a school council comprising of 8 children across Key Stage One and Two. Each class have a representative and they meet with Mr Burnett every fortnight.  The School Council are elected by members of their class to represent views across the school.

Each school council member attends meetings which are held in the community room around the meeting room table and each meeting has an agenda and minutes are taken.  There is a school council notice board near the library which is updated after each meeting.

We also have a School Council Suggestion Box underneath the board where children can offer any suggestions to make their school a better place.  Any issues raised are discussed at School Council and are fed back to individual classes after the meetings.

As part of their role, School Council are involved in developing procedures and routines, suggesting improvements in health and safety and many other aspects of school life. They also work with staff and the PTFA to enhance areas of school e.g. playground/ classroom.

As part of our wider curriculum, our councillors are involved in projects in our local community as well as organising activities for local and national fundraising events such as Children in Need and Comic Relief.
